Side note:

Today, being Halloween, I figured I'd make some yummies. So... I now have several quart-sized bags of Poppycock, two dozen chocolate-chip cookies, about 80 chocolate-covered pretzels, and a butter cake with orange frosting to show for my time in the kitchen. Heh.

Didn't get too many trick-or-treaters. I still have some candy left.

Watched Indiana Jones 4 tonight. Didn't hate it. But I am glad I didn't pay to see it in the theater. Dang, do I love RedBox!

Less than 1 hour to go.

Less than an hour to go. Less than an hour to go. See? This is me being very good and not jumping the gun. And I've decided - without the aid of a coin - that I will stick with 3rd person. I have too many characters floating around in my head, too many points of view, to try to write in 1st person.

Now, to take some Tylenol for my aching knee, brew up a strong cup of tea and, cue the music, and... er... play Solitaire while I wait for this last 50 minutes to pass.

Well, cool.

While it's frustrating that I can't seem to log-in at NaNoWriMo right now, because the "server may be too busy" - it's also really kind of awesome, because it means lots of people are on the site right now.

I may just flip a coin right at midnight to end once and for all my 1st person/3rd person debate.

Say it isn't so!

How bummed am I at the announcement that David Tennant is leaving Doctor Who? I cannot even begin to measure the depths of my bummed-ness.

Less than 12 hours to go....

Of course, with the way things have been going for me the past few days, I'll be lucky if I get a chance to start writing before, oh, the end of November? *sigh*

I still need to load my prewriting charts. Hmmm. Maybe I could get that done tonight while I sit around waiting to see if anyone comes to trick-or-treat at my door.

1st person, 3rd person

Just a few more days til NaNoWriMo kicks off and I haven't even decided whether or not to write 1st person or 3rd person. Eep. Part of me thinks this would be easier in 1st person, but then, for one thing, 1st person stories often get on my nerves. Second, it limits me in characters. But it does prevent the need to say "She thought..." overly much.

I think my disgust with the American voting public is creeping in to my possible plots, too. I'm so tired of the number of people who think you HAVE to vote Democrat or Republican - that there are no other choices. But really, adding an election to this book, just for the sake of making the point that unless you pay attention to ALL the candidates you are *not* an informed voter, really doesn't do anything for the storyline.

Oh, and I have to avoid something that's been sneaking up on me. The character Jace, in my mini-bio, is starting to sound an awful lot like SG1's Daniel Jackson. Well, aside from the fact that he's not human. Heh.

Note to self: Time to stock up on Grasshopper cookies and Lady Grey Tea. :)

Building a galaxy.

The best thing about fiction writing? The God-like powers. Heh. Being able to map out an entire galaxy, design new worlds and species and people, and then control every moment, action, event, thought, and so on is an amazing exercise in creativity and brainstorming.

I have decided that one main character will definitely be named Kristus. Don't know why that appeals to me so much.

When I'm finished with my "worlds and peoples" chart, I'll post it here for easy reference.

I really am starting to get excited about NaNoWriMo again this year.

If you're here...

If you just stumbled across this blog, I promise there's nothing here you're going to care about. You can move right along. I needed a place to gather my thoughts for participating in NaNoWriMo, and this is it.
